Common Problems
Peeling
Trim: It’s common for real wood trim (fascia, door trim, garage trim, railings) to peel where moisture sits and freezes. Once paint peels, wood is exposed and can gray or rot. We scrape peeling paint, sand to feather edges, and prime with a high-quality sealer so new paint adheres and lasts.
Siding: Undersides of siding—especially on shaded north sides—can peel when thin builder coats wear down. Moisture runs down the boards and lifts paint, leading to swelling and costly replacement. We sand peeling areas on lower boards, prime, and repaint for a longer-lasting finish.
Cracking
Low-quality builder caulking often cracks as the house expands and contracts. Cracks let moisture behind boards, causing warping or rot. We remove failed caulk and reseal with siliconized acrylic caulking that flexes with the home and holds paint.
Fading
UV exposure breaks down paint resin, leading to fading or chalking and less protection for your siding. We power wash chalking, and on sun-heavy sides we add primer or a second coat to boost resin content and extend the life of the finish.
Nail holes
Moisture can sit in nail holes and swell siding. Simply painting over them leaves pockets for water. We fill and caulk nail holes to shed water and protect the boards.
